Peter Weston – Managing Director
Peter is an expert in power and renewable energy, with 25 years of experience as an investor, lender, strategic adviser and project implementer. Since 2016, Peter has been responsible for managing Energy 4 Impact's programmes which alleviate poverty and improve livelihoods through access to energy in sub-Saharan Africa. In September 2021, he took over the leadership of Energy 4 Impact following the merger with Mercy Corps. Peter is a non-executive director of social investor Thrive Renewables and a board member of the NGO Renewable World. He was previously global head of finance and investment for two power equipment suppliers – Siemens Wind and MAN – and led GE Capital’s European energy lending team. Peter has a degree in Economics and Politics from Warwick University.
Godfrey Sanga – Director, East Africa
Godfrey Sanga has more than 15 years of experience in off-grid energy business and project development in solar, hydro, biomass and wind energy technologies, access to clean energy and promotion of productive uses of electricity in East and Southern Africa. Prior to joining Energy 4 Impact in 2013 in Kenya, he worked with DBSA in South Africa, TaTEDO in Tanzania and International Energy Initiative in Brazil. Godfrey is a trained mechanical engineer from the University of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania and holds MBA from Edinburgh Business School of the Heriot Watt University in Scotland.
Klaudine Wakasa – Director of Advisory
Klaudine has more than 12 years of progressively senior experience in research, strategy, business development, partnerships, and programme management in Africa, working across the private, public, and non-profit sectors, much of it in energy. Prior to joining Energy 4 Impact she supported the UK and Canadian governments and private sector companies to expand their commercial activities in clean growth in Africa, including renewable energy, e-mobility, battery storage, carbon trading, water management and sustainable agriculture. She previously worked in economic development, both as a strategy consultant with Dalberg Global Development Advisors and in programme/fund management with KPMG IDAS. Klaudine has an MSc in Development and Globalization from the London School of Economics Gender Institute and a BSc in Financial Economics from the University of Maryland. She also has a certificate in Accounting and a minor in Gender and Women's Studies.
Ian Larkham – Finance Director
Ian Larkham is a CIMA Management accountant with an MBA from Henley Business School. He started his career within the electricity supply industry where he stayed for over 9 years, before focusing on multinational IT project implementations with SAP. Over the last 20 years Ian has worked in a number of senior finance and resource management roles within the charity and NGO humanitarian sector, from Girlguiding to The Mentor Initiative. He has helped boards develop new strategies and business development plans across varying sectors, enabling growth and improving overall efficiency and effectiveness.
Mathieu Dalle – Director, West Africa
Mathieu Dalle is an agronomist. He holds an MBA in social entrepreneurship and a postgraduate in Water and Waste Treatment and Management. He has been working in the renewable energy and social economy sector sectors for 10 years helping businesses, institutions and NGOs in Mali, Senegal, Morocco, and Ghana make a bigger impact through cleaner energy sources and improved efficiency. Before joining Energy 4 Impact, he was the Director of a Spain-based Child and Youth Rights NGO and Director of a French farmers’ organisation.
Abdoul Dosso – Senegal Country Manager
Abdoul Dosso has over 10 years of experience in the renewable energy sector, particularly in off-grid energy businesses and project development, access to clean energy technologies, and productive uses of energy. In 2013, he joined Energy 4 Impact as an Energy Business Development Specialist, supporting women entrepreneurs. He has since consolidated Energy 4 Impact’s position in Senegal through the development of a dynamic ecosystem and innovative financing mechanisms. Abdoul holds a Master's degree in Development Economics from the University of Bouake in the Ivory Coast and a Master's Degree in Finance from ESCEM in France. He is currently finalising an Executive MBA in Project Management and Entrepreneurship from HEC in Dakar.
Matar Sylla – Benin Country Manager
Matar Sylla is an engineer with more than 10 years' experience as a senior consultant for sustainable development projects. Before joining Energy 4 Impact, he coordinated Senegal’s National Domestic Biogas Programme, where he was responsible for developing the country’s biodigesters dissemination strategy, securing finance, forging public-private partnerships and and designing integrated renewable energy-agriculture-livestock projects. His work at the Ministry of Petroleum and Energy has given him a deep knowledge of the institutional framework of the energy sector. Matar is also an associate researcher at the Methane Laboratory of the Polytechnic School of Thiès where he designed and implemented national and international civil engineering projects.
Rafael Diezmos – Business Development Manager
Rafael has over 10 years’ experience in project development and management, mainly in the environment and renewable energy sectors. Apart from managing and executing development and regulatory strategies, he has also been involved in the environmental and social governance of various renewable energy projects. Rafael joined Energy 4 Impact to develop new business opportunities from the Nairobi office, having worked on various energy access projects across East Africa. He holds a MSc Environment degree from the University of Melbourne, a Diploma in Urban Planning and a BSc Agribusiness Management from the University of the Philippines.
Alessandra Moscadelli – Head of Communications
Alessandra is a communications professional with over 15 years’ experience in media relations, social media marketing, stakeholder engagement and brand management. She is responsible for developing communications strategies and for leading international teams to deliver multi-lingual advocacy, awareness and behavioural change communications. Prior to joining Energy 4 Impact she worked as a communications specialist for a range of human rights, development and grassroots organisations. She holds a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Modern Languages and Literature and speaks English, Italian, Spanish and French.
Ben Good – Senior Advisor
Ben Good is an engineer with over 25 years’ experience in the renewable energy and utility sectors. He has undertaken a range of senior operational, commercial, financial, and corporate finance roles with various businesses and projects across Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Americas. Since 2011, Ben has led the establishment of Energy 4 Impact as a major contributor to the development of off-grid energy markets in sub-Saharan Africa. Immediately prior to E4I, Ben was CEO of a UK-listed renewable energy business with interests in India and southern Africa. He has a degree in Engineering, Economics and Management from Oxford University. After the announcement of the merger with Mercy Corps, Ben stepped down as CEO and now works to support the team on business development and the delivery of certain ongoing projects.
