Energy 4 Impact is Mercy Corps’ energy innovation platform, dedicated to improving access to clean energy and promoting climate-resilient development. Our work accelerates progress towards a more sustainable and equitable future for all.

Access to modern, renewable energy is pivotal for communities to thrive, improving livelihoods, ensuring food and water security, and driving economic growth by powering agriculture and industries.

Equitable access promotes inclusion and gender equality, empowering all to participate fully in society, while adapting to and mitigating the impacts of climate change.

Mercy Corps works in over 40 countries around the world. We’re committed to creating global change through local impact — 95% of our team members are from the countries where they work.

Our impact

We have reached over 20 million people in Africa with access to energy, transforming lives across the continent.

We have driven this impact by strengthening market systems, fostering partnerships, innovation, and learning. We’ve advised over 15,000 businesses (nearly half of them owned by women), created 19,000 jobs, and raised $193 million in investments. We have also averted 14 million tons of carbon emissions by replacing traditional energy sources with clean energy options, enabling communities to meet their energy demands more sustainably.

Now we look ahead to expanding energy access initiatives globally and across the humanitarian and development sectors.
