This report examines the provision of sustainable energy solutions to urban informal settlements in Sierra Leone, highlighting the energy access challenges faced by low-income communities and opportunities for energy service providers. It evaluates financing instruments including equity, debt, grants, crowdfunding, and carbon credits, which can support company activities such as research and development, market and brand activation, community engagement, and business model development. Published as part of the ENACT project implemented in Uganda and Sierra Leone by ICLEI Africa and Energy 4 Impact, the report aims to galvanise financial inclusion for energy access in urban settings.
